When I start a web site, I am usually at a loss as to what I should put in the initial post. Should I do something off the cuff, or should I try for a more formal introduction to the site? Maybe it does not matter so much. After all I did an “About Page”, and this post will inevitability scroll off the frot page and probably never be seen again.
I would like to say that the content on this site will be somewhat consistent. But I can’t make any such claim. What I can say is that a majority of it will have a technical tilt of some sort or another. However there are other things I do with my time that I sometimes like to talk about. So don’t be surprised if some off the wall stuff appears from time to time.
Beyond the technical stuff, I do still travel a bit. I also am into older computer games, mainly RPG and strategy types. I am not really into on line competitive gaming, as I keep running into people who take it way to seriously. But to ground what I have said in some past information, some examples of games I have played and enjoyed will follow.
Knights of the Old Republic, both chapters, I liked. Did not get into the Old Republic on line game. To many micro transactions considering you are paying a subscription fee. Plus the people who take it to seriously take the fun out of it.
Jade Empire was another game I really enjoyed. Just disappointed that no squeal was ever made.
The Mass Effect, trilogy plus Andromeda (which I did enjoy). Gotten away from Mass Effect because EA shoved their app down everyone’s throat without including the same functionality (as well as some other problems) of the origins Origins app.
I enjoyed Fallout 4 and Fallout 3. Plan to do Fallout New Vegas at some point. Also plan to actually play Skyrim at some point.
On the strategy side I have played pretty much all the Civilization titles. If we want to get really old I liked games like M.U.L.E, Red Storm Rising and Frontier Elite.
If the mood hits me, I may talk about places I have been, and possibly places I am going too. Interestingly, since my last retirement I have been spending most of my time in the Philippines. So I may talk about that at some point.
Other things I might talk about from time to time are cooking (living in the Philippines if I want certain foods I have to make them myself). I also on occasion like to engage in a little philosophizing about a variety of subject. I might also talk about some of my favorite music, which I can’t narrow down much as my tastes are rater eclectic.
Anyway I am rambling a bit here. So while this site will mostly focus on technician stuff, don’t be surprised if a post seems to come out of left field. And I do hope some of you will be interested enough to engage in some discussion. Because sharing opinions in a positive way always makes topics much more interesting.
