Video Production Issues

It has been awhile since my last post. I have been working on producing my second YouTube video. And I scraped it to start from ground zero. I have not yet found my stride in video production. And it does not help that I am doing it on an older laptop. I may also be a little to picky about the content than I should be.

I have expressed issues with a lot of YouTube content providers doing overlong videos with loads of unneeded content. This is my personal opinion, I am sure others probably like it. I just do not want to fall into the pattern of making videos with extra non needed content just to meet some arbitrary requirement.

I think I also need to determine my style and stride for video production. I have read a lot of articles and looked at a lot of videos on making YouTube videos. They all seem overly concerned with making money. But that also means most of the material out there is not very helpful for ironing out how I do videos.

I already know I will not be overly flashy, and at least for the foreseeable future I will be using what I have on hand . That is basically my cellphone and laptop.

From my endeavors so far I have determined that I do not want a full scripted video, as that makes me appear very unnatural and robotic. I also can not wing it as I either get stuck for words leaving silence or a lot of “umms”. Or I end up going off on a tangent, forgetting my original purpose.

I also need to figure out a better way to organize my video files, as I tend to end up with a lot of them for even a simple production. I have video files, picture files, graphic files, and sound files. And it is more than just organization. I think I need to develop a standard for labeling all theses files.

Maybe what I really need to do is take a break. I will give it until the end of the week, then take a break form trying to make a decent video and go back to posting articles for awhile.

Who knows, if I am successful, I could do a technical tips post on making videos.

Enough of this, it is time to get back to work. While I may not know much about making a video for YouTube, I do know that like anything else,  doing nothing is not going to get it done.
