POV-Ray Sky Sphere Example

Below is a POV-Ray scene file to render a sky with light clouds above the  water.  While there are many much more complicated ways to get render this scene with better results, these are pretty good for a scene script that took about half an hour to write.

POV-Ray Base Scene File

In this post I will walk through one of my basic POV-Ray startup files. I find that having a few predefined starter scene files can really help me get a leg up on a rendering project.

I am assuming you did not land on this page by accident, so I will not be going into an overly detailed explanation about what POV-Ray is and what it does. I am also assuming that you have probably had some experience with POV-Ray through other tutorials, and sometimes find yourself struggling with writing a scene file. (more…)

Point Lobos in 2016

This is a picture of a Pacific Ocean sunset taken from Point Lobos California in December of 2016. Point Lobos is one of California’s  State parks located just south of Monterey.

The image uploaded here is 16:9 ratio (2560 x 1440) jpeg and around 0.65 megabyte in size.

Linux Command: lscpu

The lscpu command is used to display information about the Central Processing Unit (CPU) of your computer, often just refereed to as the processor. The command provides output in a two column format using name: value pairs. Which columns have information displayed will depend to some extend on the CPU architecture. (more…)

Favorite Songs – Bold Orion on the Rise

Bold Orion Album CoverMost people have probably never listened to or appreciated one of my favorite songs of the 1980’s, Bold Orion on the Rise. I first heard this song in 1984 at a USO show when I was stationed in Northern Turkey. It was written by Leo Kretzner and Jon Bell back in the early 1980’s. (more…)
