The Big Clean

Unfortunately, I have not been able to get back to posting as prolifically as I would like. Mainly because of house cleaning. It has been a couple of year since I have been in the current house, and relatives have been using it off and on in my absence. Not to mention all the boxes that were shipped and need to be unpacked and sorted. Plus, since it has been awhile, some time was devoted to meeting and greeting with the extended family.  So all in all, it has been a fairly busy two weeks.

Having pushed through all the above, I have started setting up my work area. I have been moved up to the second floor and  I am currently dealing with some network management problems (the first floor office has become a storage room, but everything still terminates there).

My cellular internet connection is not bad, especially early in the morning when I usually like to write. But i am looking to upgrade to a landline fiber connection. I saw someone else in the neighborhood had fiber already, so I went over and asked about it.  This week I will visit the ISP and see how long it will take to get installed.

Acclimatization is progressing. Moving from the central east coast region to the Philippines was definitely a weather change. Since I am up on top of a mountain, the change was not as drastic as it could have been down closer to Manila. An interesting note, a hot day in the sun here is not as bright as a cold day in the sun back in Maryland. I am guessing it has something to do with both the humidity in the air, and the angle of the sun. But there is a noticeable difference in the brightness of the sun. I will need to do some research on this phenomena.

This is just a short post to help me get back into the habit. The next several of posts are going to be similar in nature, interspersed with some observations on some of the repair work I am doing around the house. You may also notice that many of my posts may be Philippine centric. Exploring how tech works in a different country is always educational.

Once I get my servers setup, I will be moving back to more traditional posts. So stay tuned.
