Recently I experienced an outage from my Internet Service Provider (ISP). This in itself is not unusual. I have experienced outages from my ISP in most every place I have ever lived (and actually had an ISP). What made this particularly interesting is that I had just switched to a new ISP, and was able to setup a temporary Internet connection through the old ISP. (more…)
One of the first components you are probably going to acquire for your LAN is a router. Most likely this will be an all in one device encompassing the functions of a router, switch and wireless access point. If it comes form your ISP, it may also include a modem. (more…)
I have been using a 4G LTE cellular Modem here in the Philippines for years now. Before this trip I visited the company web site and saw they had a 4G LTE + modem now. So I thought I would invest, and see if it would improve my connection. 5G in my area is very spotty, otherwise I would have gone that route. (more…)
